October 18, 2011: Dr. Richard Swafford, Inland Empire Health Information Exchange

On Tuesday, October 18, at 1:00 PM, California eHealth Collaborative presented Dr. Richard Swafford of the IEHIE.


The Inland Empire Health Information Exchange (IEHIE) provides exchange support to Riverside and San Bernardino Counties, the two largest counties geographically in the country. The IEHIE is broadly supported in the community and has built a sustainability model that promises to be self-sufficient without reliance on grants. This presentation will provide information on the IEHIE and the those activities leading to the pilot launch.

Dr. Richard Swafford has over twenty-six years of diversified experience in the Information Technology (IT) field.  He has held several executive level positions including CTO, CIO and Project Director for the largest geographic HIE project in the US. He has extensive departmental management, network engineering and integration experience utilizing multiple platforms on a variety of projects as well as task development, management, strategic planning, business process reengineering and organizational performance experience in commercial, community Healthcare and Department of Defense (DOD) communities.

Webinars from the California eHealth Collaborative provide presentations from national subject matter experts speaking on a variety of topics related to the development and operation of health information exchange. Webinars are held every other Tuesday at 1:00 PM Pacific Time.
